Welcome to Noella’s Art!

Home of Abi Allen & the Greens!

Hi there browser friend, I’m Noël Yates, artist, author, and happy resident of West County.

I started drawing when I was a kid. In drawing, you can create your own world and make yourself the hero of any adventure you can imagine.

I find as a grown-up, that’s still a fun and important thing to do because sometimes through drawing and storytelling, we can come to a better understanding of the world we actually live in. Solutions to problems often come from our inner space or sometimes, from outer space.

“Meet the Greens!” is about some characters who have been in my life for a very long time. I first met the Greens decades ago (egads!) while living as an artist in Austin, Texas. Through the passing decades they have returned to visit me many times. They arrive in good cheer and give me reason to smile and be hopeful about life. They are dear friends. I hope you enjoy getting to know the Greens.

Meet Abi Allen

Aka Noël Yates (In case you don’t know, aka stands for: also known as)

Hi browser buddy! I’m Abi Allen. Although she thinks I’m a figment of her imagination, it may well be, that Noël is a figment of my imagination. Wouldn’t that surprise her!

Like Noël, I live in West County too with my Mom and Dad and brother, Alexander. We also have a dog named David and a cat named Philomena. Sometimes Zephyr and I take our pets canoeing on the River. The River is a big part of our lives. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

A while back, a little spacecraft landed in the Von Renner’s apple orchard. (You’ll meet the Von Renner's in the book). Zephyr Green, who is my size, and his mom, Aileen, and his dad, Gregory, and their cat Fenna, and dog Lari, were in the little spacecraft. To visit the Portrait Gallery, click HERE.

After all sorts of exciting and sometimes harrowing (another word for scary) experiences, the Greens moved right next door to us.

In “Meet the Greens!” I show and tell you all about this most interesting and wonderful family from a whole different planet. To order the book online, click HERE.

I hope you get to know them as I have. They’re kind of different from us humans, but we also have a lot, a lot, a lot, in common.

I’ve made a portrait gallery of Zephyr’s and my families so you can get a look at who I’m writing about here.

My art teacher, Ms. Renoir (“Call me Anna!” she always says with her French accent), encourages me to draw the world around me. Zephyr and I spend a lot of time wandering through the fields and woods and over the hills and along our little roads, drawing pictures of what we see. Zephyr isn’t ready to show you his drawings yet, but you can click HERE for Abi’s Sketchbook page. I think that’s about all you need to know just now.

Now go out and play, or if it’s nighttime, I suggest you curl up with a good book, maybe it will be “Meet the Greens!”
